New advertisement targets arson in Gippsland

A new TV advertisement produced by the Gippsland Arson Prevention Program (GAPP) ‘Stop Bushfire Arson’ is helping to raise community awareness to target and reduce the incidence of bushfire arson across the Gippsland region this summer season.

The Gippsland Regional Aircraft Exercise was held today at the Latrobe Valley Airfield. The exercise is an opportunity for CFA members to practice their skills in air observing, relaying information back to an Incident Control Centre, flight following and aerial fire mapping.

Newry and Upper Maffra RFB celebrate 70 years

Newry and Upper Maffra Rural Fire Brigade has been serving the community of Newry and Upper Maffra for over 70 years. To celebrate this significant milestone, the brigade came together to celebrate with a Community Fun day at the Newry Recreational Reserve on Saturday 18th October, providing entertainment with face painting, jumping castle, horse lotto, raffles and a band.  The brigade was on hand with the Community Education Trailer to provide advice to the community on Bushfire Awareness, Captain Koala was in attendance along with the Traralgon Bronto.

625 years of service to the Seaton Community

The Seaton community came together on Sunday 19 October 2014 to celebrate and officially open their new station and to pay tribute to members of the township’s fire brigade.  The opening of the station was a great day for the future of the brigade and allowed for recognition of the people who have built this brigade into what it is today.

370 years of service to the Dargo community

The community of Dargo came together on Sunday 19 October 2014 to officially open their fire station, receive the keys to their new Ultra light tanker and to celebrate and pay tribute to members of the township’s fire brigade.  The Hon Tim Bull, Member for Gippsland East handed over the keys to the new vehicle to Captain Brian Madigan along with unveiling the memorial plaque for the station.
