A group of CFA members driving home from a fire-line leadership course were flagged down by a person on the side of the road alerting them to a woman who had fallen down a cave near Buchan in East Gippsland.

The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association is concerned by the increase in boating-related fatalities after the official boating season. We have had four fatalities in Victorian waters since the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

Members manning portable weather stations

A Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) initiative 10 years ago to gather more accurate weather readings close to going fires has led to the strategic long-term placement of three portable automatic weather stations (PAWS) with fire brigades in Hazelwood North, Wangaratta Northand Horsham, and two with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) at Altona.
