D17 presentation to the Chief

Last night (23 September) District 17 made a presentation to Chief Officer Euan Ferguson to thank him for his friendship with the district and wish him farewell. The attached photo shows Operations Manager Dale Russell presenting Euan Ferguson with a framed image of Mt Arapiles, a striking feature of the Wimmera, taken by CFA volunteer and Horsham RCC Mayor Mark Radford.

District 17 HQ brigade's weather monitors

A Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) initiative 10 years ago to gather more accurate weather readings close to going fires has led to the strategic long-term placement of five portable automatic weather stations (PAWS) with fire brigades in Horsham, Wangaratta North and Hazelwood North, and two with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) at Altona.
