Smoke alert from Kangaroo Ground

Fire authorities advise that ongoing fire activity at Kangaroo Ground is generating large amounts of smoke which may be visible between Warrandyte and Dixons Creek areas north of Kangaroo Ground.

The Kangaroo Ground fire is contained and crews continue to get the fire under control.
 
The risk has been significantly reduced and it is expected the fire will be controlled tonight.
 
The public are reminded to reduce speed on roads and drive to the conditions in smoke-affected areas.
 
If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health advises people to seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on  1300 606 024.
 
For information on fires in Victoria and general fire safety, please contact the Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) on free call 1800 240 667.
 
Callers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech / communication impairment may contact VBIL via the National Relay Service on 1800 555 67
 
People should also tune in to their emergency broadcasters: ABC Local Radio, commercial radio and designated community radio stations or SKY NEWS Television.
