It’s not surprising that the Eureka Climb generates quite a bit of interest from CFA members; we love to fundraise for a good cause, we’re always looking for a new challenge and when you throw in some healthy competition the Eureka Climb definitely ticks all the boxes!

This year’s climb had 2497 competitors that together raised an amazing $298,200 for 2 non-profit organisations:

* Interplast who provide free reconstructive surgery for underprivileged patients around the world; and

* Whitlion an Australian organisation that supports disadvantaged young people to live more positive and fulfilled lives.

There were 200 hundred entrants from emergency service agencies and our 45 CFA participants raised over $7600 for the charities.

The CFA brigades represented were; Upwey, Bayswater, Leopold/Lara, Werribee, Doreen, Pakenham, South Warrandyte, Cranbourne and Springvale.

Committee members from the CFA Sports & Recreation Association attended on the day to present all CFA participants with a sports cap specially designed for the event.  The caps which were embroidered with the CFASRA logo and “Eureka Climb 2012” were well received and will serve as a reminder of the challenging 1,642 stair climb.

Of course the emergency services agencies are never truly happy unless we are competing against each other so the “Emergency Services Team Challenge” was born. The 2012 team results are -
