2018 Australia Day Parade - EOI
Once again, CFA will participate in the Australia Day Parade in Melbourne’s CBD.
The parade will include volunteer members from Victorian emergency services, and CFA has been invited to provide up to 50 participants.
Participants will walk approximately two kilometres and will travel from the corner of Bourke and Swanston St, past the Melbourne Town Hall, Federation Square, over the Yarra River, and into St Kilda Rd. The march will start at 11am following a flag raising ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall which begins at 10.30am. Participants will be required in Melbourne by 9.15am to be registered for the event. The parade will conclude by 12.30pm. Participants will be required to wear clean wildfire PPE for the duration of the parade.
Expressions of interest/nominations
This recognition event is open to members to submit an expression of interest. If you are interested in participating in the parade, please call the Volunteer Sustainability Team on 9262 8513 or 9262 8211. Alternatively, you can nominate by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018EOI_AUSTDAYPARADE and complete the survey.
To be part of the march, we are offering members the chance to nominate themselves. Successful applicants will be members who demonstrate CFA Values, and have made a valuable contribution to the community.
Equal numbers of places will be offered to all regions. Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 7 January 2018. Final selection of participants will be at the discretion of local OMs/ACOs.
For successful participants who are travelling from regional parts of the state, there's a small budget to provide some accommodation the night before (25 January 2018). This is only for participants who live more than 200km from CFA Headquarters at Burwood East. Bus transport has been arranged to get to and from the event from CFA Headquarters, although participants can meet up with the CFA group at the pre-arranged meeting point in the city.
Participants will be responsible for transport to and from the event and any car parking, but they will be encouraged to use CFA brigade, group or district vehicles.
The Volunteer Sustainability Team will make contact with successful/unsuccessful applicants during the week commencing Monday 15 January 2018. Successful applicants will be provided with further information about arrangements for the event.
