30th Anniversary of Ash Wednesday
February 16 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Ash Wednesday bushfires involving some of the most devastating bushfires Australia has ever experienced.
Sadly a total of 75 people were killed in the bushfires that swept across parts of Victoria and South Australia. Among the 47 people killed from Victoria were volunteer CFA firefighters from Panton Hill, Nar Nar Goon, Narre Warren and Wallacedale brigades.
To recognise the ultimate sacrifice made by those firefighters in the service to their communities, we will be holding a remembrance service on Sunday 17 February 2013 at 5.00pm.
The service will be held at St Johns Anglican Church, Corner of St Georges Road and Beaconsfield-Emerald Road, Upper Beaconsfield.
More details about the service will be provided soon.
