As I enter my sixth week on the job as CEO, I feel it's been both a privilege and a challenge to have dived in to the deep end of the business of CFA.

You've been incredibly welcoming. No-one has yet run away when they've seen me coming; everyone I've met has been willing to spend time bringing me up to speed, answering all my questions and letting me know where we can improve. I'm already learning that CFA people are passionate about what they do.

Not until you actually get inside a business like CFA can you understand the magnitude of the place. That's been an eye-opener for me. From what I've seen so far, it provides a highly professional service, from community education to operational response, backed by a long list of past achievements and strong performance.

And like any good organisation, CFA will continue to grow and improve. I've already started talking to the leadership team about command and control arrangements, changes to land boundaries and the processes we use to support our people. More details on those changes will follow as they develop.

Thanks for making CFA the organisation it is today and for making me feel so welcome. I look forward to working with you all in the coming months.
