Additional mobile props on order
CFA has signed a contract that will deliver seven additional hot fire mobile props. The purpose of mobile props is to provide volunteers located in remote areas with improved access to operational training facilities.
The props simulate car, small industry and residential fires for training purposes.
HAAGEN, whose products are used by fire academies and fire departments for training world-wide, is the successful tenderer.
HAAGEN is the company that supplied the first three CFA mobile props delivered in March 2013. The three props are currently deployed in regional areas, usually more than an hour away from the VEMTC training campuses. To date, OT&V has received positive feedback from members who have used the first three modules.
Under the new contract, seven props will be manufactured in Geelong by Australian Engineering Solutions Pty. Ltd. (Austeng), who is contracted to HAAGEN.
Delivery of the new modules to CFA is expected between April and May 2015.
The 2011 Jones “Report of Inquiry into the Effect of Arrangements made by CFA on its Volunteers” recommended increased training opportunities for Victoria’s volunteer fire fighters.
