Air and ground crews attack Bridgewater fire
Aircraft and ground crews have managed to contain a fire near Bridgewater this afternoon (24 December).
CFA District 20 Operations Manager Peter Taylor said the fire was burning in grassland along the edge of the Loddon River on Bridgewater-Dunolly Road.
The fire was spotted around 3.15pm.
“Along with the aircraft, we had around 100 firefighters and 25 trucks working on the fire from the ground,” he said.
“It has burnt around 150 hectares of grassland.”
Firefighters will remain at the scene through the evening to black out and to make sure the area is safe.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
