A small grass fire with strong winds can lead to trouble

Just after midday on Sunday, Stratford brigade in District 10 were supported by 3 other brigades today after a grass fire broke out in Airly Rd, 500 mts south of the Princes Hwy.

Stratford Captain David Baxter said "although the grass is fairly green, it showed today that it will still burn. It wont be long until we see the grass cured totally"

Police assisted by stopping vehicle access south of the Princes Hwy to allow the crews from Stratford, Sale, Clydebank, Maffra and Avon Group to control and extinguish the grass fire
