Smoke alarm alerts man to fire
A smoke alarm has alerted a man to a fire in his lounge room early this morning (16 May).
CFA crews were called to the house on Two Chain Road in Arcadia South, around 4.40am.
CFA District 22 Operations Officer Charlie Cleary said the single storey weatherboard house was fully alight when crews arrived.
“The smoke detector activated and alerted the occupant to the fire,” he said.
“There were a number of CFA units on scene given its rural location and access to water.”
The fire was called under control at 5.15am. The house was destroyed.
It’s believed the cause of the fire is electrical.
Seven trucks from Arcadia, Murchison, Shepparton, Miepoll, Kialla, Karramomus and Moorilim attended.
