It was all systems go this morning when emergency services crews were called to a grass and scrub fire on Mt Dandenong Tourist Road.
Concerned residents in the area called Triple Zero at 6.45am on Thursday 9 March when they spotted smoke rising from the bush.
CFA Operations Officer Tim Holland said it took crews between 15 to 20 minutes to access the fire due because of difficult terrain and poor accessibility to tracks.
“It is very steep on the western face of the Dandenong Ranges which made it difficult for trucks to access the blaze,” he said.
“The fire burnt up a hill covering an area approximately 2000 square metres. It started on private land and burned into the Dandenong Ranges National Park.
“The fire was called under control at 7.45am but crews will remain on scene for some time blacking out.
Emergency services crews from CFA, MFB, FFMVic and Parks Vic all played an important role in getting the fire under control.
“It was a joint agency approach and everyone involved did a great job working together to contain the fire.”
CFA issued an Advice Message to the towns of Kalorama and Montrose. There was no threat to the community but there was a lot of visible smoke in the area.
Mr Holland said this is a timely reminder that although weather conditions may be milder, there is still high fire risk.

Fire investigators from CFA and Parks Victoria are currently on scene determining the cause.
CFA Crews from Kalorama, Montrose, Olinda and The Basin assisted to get the blaze under control.
