Ammonia leak in Cobden

Update 10.07pm: The incident was called under control at 10pm (22 August).

The Watch and Act message has now been downgraded to an Advice message.

Update 9.40pm: CFA crews are currently on the scene of an ammonia leak on Curdie Street, Cobden.

CFA was called to the incident at 8.10pm this evening (22 August) and the incident is not yet under control.

A Watch and Act message has been issued for the Cobden area.

CFA Rostered Duty Officer Mark Gunning said firefighters door knocked the area to ensure the community remained indoors and safe.

"We've currently got crews in gas suits inside the building doing a sweep and atmospheric monitoring.

"The leak has been contained and isolated, so hopefully the incident will be under control soon."

All workers have been evacuated from the building and two workers have been transported to hospital with minor symptoms.

CFA crews from Cobden, Cobden Group, Colac, Warrnambool, Camperdown, Camperdown Group and Bostock Creek are assisting with the incident.

Police and Ambulance Victoria is also on the scene.
