AP&ES Games Medal Winners
CFA Scorchers win Silver in Mixed Beach Volleyball at AP&ES Games
Sebastopol Fire Brigade members successfully competed in Beach Volleyball at the Australasian
Police & Emergency Services Games held in Melbourne recently.
The beach volleyball was held at South Melbourne Beach, with the weather being very kind on the day, unlike the pairs event held the day before in inclement weather.
The team (CFA Scorchers) consisting of Jason Adams, Ben Carey, Bill Cook, Melissa Deppeler, Paul Green, and our BASO Sherene Mounier, were really impressed with their achievements.
The day competition consisted a round robin of seven rounds (best of three games) against
two teams from Victoria Police, two teams from Ambulance Victoria, VicSES, Coastguard,
and WA Police, followed by the finals. The Scorchers only lost one match of the rounds and played off for the gold medal.
The team they played off against in the finals was the only team that beat them in the rounds, and despite a valiant effort, the Scorchers were unable to rise to the challenge in the finals.
The medal win has already seen the team resolving to attend the next Australasian Games
being held on the Sunshine Coast in 2016.
