Art fundraiser at Hilldene station
Twelve artists from the Seymour area are joining forces to raise money for Hilldene brigade in District 12.
By Lynda Robinson
Called ART 4 CFA, the art exhibition opens at Hilldene Fire Station on Thursday 17 April at 7pm, and continues throughout Easter, 18-21 April, from 10am to 4pm.
This follows the hugely successful 'GR8 ART' show held last year, officially opened by Chief Officer Euan Ferguson, to raise funds for Trawool brigade.
The eight artists who sold works for Trawool brigade are being joined by four more to help Hilldene brigade members, who are enthusiastically backing the art exhibition. Artworks will cover all mediums - oil, watercolour, pastel, and mixed media.
As a talking point, in addition to the main display of works each artist will paint one work using the same still-life subject (as we did with the 'daisy' experiment which caused so much interest last year at Trawool). This year, it will be a 'lamp and lemons' experiment.
At the exhibition there will be delicious refreshments and local wines. Entry will be by gold coin donation, and commission from the sale of works will be donated to Hilldene brigade. The proceeds of a raffle to sell a piece of artwork will also be donated to the brigade.
Last year's opening event at Trawool brigade was a busy and sociable evening, and there was an impressive range of quality art for sale. So make sure you come along to Hilldene brigade this Easter.
