Australia Day Parade 2017
CFA has once again been invited to participate in the Australia Day Parade being held in Melbourne on Thursday 26 January 2017 and we are looking for involvement in this parade from our members.
The parade will incorporate a number of organisations, including members of Victorian emergency services. CFA has been asked to provide 50 participants in this parade, which also includes Coastguard members.
This recognition event is an opportunity open to members to submit an expression of interest. If you are interested in participating in the parade, please complete the link below. Alternatively members may call the Volunteer Engagement team to submit over the phone.
Expressions of Interest/Nominations
To participate, we ask for self-nominations. Successful applicants will be members who demonstrate CFA Values and have made a valuable contribution to the community.
If members do not have adequate internet access to submit their interest online, they may call 1800 232 636 and we will lodge an EOI on their behalf.
Nominations close Sunday 8th January 2017, with final selection of participants to be at the discretion of local OMs/ACOs.
The Volunteer Engagement team will make contact with successful participants by Monday 16th January 2017. This will include an event pack containing all details for the successful participants.
Participants will walk approximately two kilometres through the crowd lined city streets. The march will commence at approximately 11am following a flag raising ceremony at the Melbourne Town Hall. Participants will be required to meet the contingent either at CFA headquarters in Burwood East by 8.15am or in Melbourne by 9.30am. The parade will conclude by approximately 12.30pm and a barbeque lunch will be provided to participants back at CFA headquarters following the parade.
Participants will be required to wear clean wildfire PPE or CFA Dress Uniform / Coastguard Uniform for the duration of the parade.
For participants who are travelling from regional locations of the state, we are able to offer accommodation to members that live 200 kilometres from State HQ. Participants are encouraged to utilise CFA Brigade/Group or District vehicles for travel along with carpooling.
