Bayswater honours members
A large number of guests & representatives from our neighbouring brigades along with members of Bayswater enjoyed an evening of official presentations, good food & lots of social catching up.
Captain Diana Ferguson opened the proceedings by welcoming our guests & members of the Brigade who she thanked for an outstanding commitment and performance over the past twelve months.
Five year service awards were presented to eight members of the Brigade.
Fifteen year Service award to Kim Wechsler.
Kim joined Scoresby in 1998 then joined CFA staff in 1999 and Bayswater in 2011
Forty year service award to Geoff Stewart.
Geoff joined Bayswater in 1973 as one of the original members, he held Brigade officer & DGO
positions for a period of 24 years.
He is a very active day time responder giving Bayswater the ability to ensure appropriate command &
control functions are undertaken and allowing importantly mentoring of newer members.
Brigade Encouragement Award presented to Firefighter Wayne Aumann.
Captains Award presented to Firefighter Matthew Taranto.
Alan Waters Awardpresented to Firefighter Kylie Hope.
Bayswater Fire Brigade Appreciation Award presented to The Hon. Heidi Victoria MP.
Heidi continually demonstrates passion & dedication to improving the Brigade and has been involved in two recent projects, firstly the Slip On and shed fundraising efforts and secondly the New Fire Station Project.
CFA Commendation of Service Award presented to Craig Ferguson.
Craig joined Bayswater in 1987 and has since been in pivotal leadership roles within the Brigade &
Craig is the founder and director of Control Line which this year will mark its 10th anniversary.
Craig continues to make significant and outstanding service to the CFA in numerous roles he maintains at Brigade, Group, Regional and state level.
CFA Outstanding Service Award presented to Alan Waters (AFSM).
Alan Joined Boronia UFB in 1967 and was a foundation member of Bayswater Fire Brigade in 1969.
Alan remains regarded as one of the most dynamic, charismatic and visionary leaders within the CFA. In 1974 when Alan became Captain his vision was to develop a Brigade of highly skilled and respected professional firefighters that would competently respond to Bayswaters growing residential, transport and industrial risks.
A strong working relationship was established and maintained to this day with the MFB due to the tireless efforts from Alan.
In 1991 while still Captain he took on the role of Knox Group Officer for six years and in 1999 stood down as Captain after a very long and successful 25 years.
Alan continues today to be an active operational firefighter with Bayswater and over his 46 years is a remarkable citizen with innate skills, knowledge and talent to public safety and for this we are eternally indebted.
