A Bayswater house was totally destroyed by fire yesterday. (Wed 31 Oct, 2012)

CFA was called to the property in Bona Vista Road just before 6.00pm where the two-storey brick house was 50 per cent involved in fire.

It took crews around 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, however, firefighters remained on scene for some time afterwards cleaning up and ensuring fire was completely extinguished.

Bayswater CFA Captain Diana Ferguson said the single occupant of the home, a woman believed to be aged in her 60s, escaped with minor burns to one of her hands.

She said while the cause of the fire remains unknown, it is not suspicious.

Nine appliances from Bayswater, Boronia, Montrose, Scoresby and The Basin attended, as well as a BA unit, two slip-on vehicles from Yellingbo and Bayswater and a number of support vehicles.
