A house was destroyed by fire in Berwick last night, 19 February.

CFA was called to the Gardiner Street home just after 9.30pm.

On arrival, firefighters found the single storey weatherboard structure fully alight.

The fire was under control around 11pm but the 10 X 20 metre structure couldn’t be saved.

Crews were decontaminated on scene due to possible asbestos on site.

The cause of the fire will be investigated today.

There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire.

Five CFA crews from Berwick, Bayswater and Beaconsfield attended the incident.
