Breathing Apparatus tender update
CFA and MFB, in conjunction with Victoria Police, Corrections Victoria and Ambulance Victoria, have closed the tender and commenced evaluation for new breathing apparatus sets.
This is the second part of the program to replace respiratory protection equipment across the emergency services sector.
Stage Two of the program is to procure and roll-out new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus sets. The CFA, MFB and participating agencies will now evaluate tender responses to determine a product that will be best suited to meet operational needs.
This will include an extensive field trial involving live fire scenarios, as well as evaluation of the technical capabilities such as telemetry, decontamination and communications offerings.
Evaluation will occur at VEMTC Craigieburn and at a range of locations across Victoria. This will occur with close consultation and participation from key stakeholders including the United Firefighters Union and the Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria.
A further update will be provided by the Joint Project Team following the outcome of the evaluation of tender responses.
