Brigade-owned vehicle registration
In an effort to provide greater support to brigades and volunteers, CFA has developed a better system to manage the registration of brigade-owned vehicles.
CFA has been working closely with VFBV, VicRoads and the State Revenue Office to finalise these arrangements.
We are pleased to announce that CFA has reached agreement with VicRoads on a common registration process that also removes the liability from the brigade nominee to manage traffic infringements and registration issues.
VicRoads has confirmed that the nominee of all brigade-owned vehicles can be transferred to corporate CFA, while remaining registered with their current number plates. (The change of nominee does not change the ownership of the vehicle – the ownership of the vehicle will remain with the brigade.) No roadworthy, motor vehicle duty or transfer fees will be required.
This change of nominee will ensure all future correspondence relating to the vehicle, including registration, renewals and traffic infringements, will be sent directly to CFA rather than to the nominated brigade member.
At this stage, this process does not include trailers.
Every brigade and group should have received an information pack in the mail regarding this change.
