Buninyong Celebrates 140 years

The Buninyong Fire Brigade celebrated 140 years of service to the Buninyong community with a weekend of activities

The celebrations commenced with brigade dinner held on the Saturday night with the presentation of service awards to 10 members.

 Bruce Morley, Stephen Warren and Rod Shirley were also presented on the night with Brigade life memberships.

The Brigade also had a massive presence at the Good Life Festival held on Sunday 21stOctober in the Buninyong Township.  

The second annual Buninyong Good Life Festival was part of a bumper events weekend in the small community, which also held an open air concert performed by the local primary school, a farmer’s market and a fun run.

Festival goers were able to enjoy dozens of stalls and activities, including an art exhibition, a book sale, bands and other entertainment, and a toy sale.

The Brigade hosted an open station, children’s activities, community safety information display, and historical fire truck display as well as specialist appliances from neighbouring brigades.

The Buninyong Brigade with the assistance of Eureka Group Brigades conducted a number of fire fighting scenario demonstrations which attracted large crowds.

 Buninyong Fire Brigade Captain Mark Cannon said “The Good life Festival was a fantastic way for the brigade to interact with the community and to hopefully motivate people think about fire safety.”

 “We had great weather and we were very pleased with the large numbers that turned out for this event, we have already started planning for next year”
