Bus fire in Montrose
A driver and two bus company staff members had a lucky escape when their bus caught fire in Montrose this evening (Sat 24 Nov 2012).
Firefighters were called to the blaze at 5.55pm this evening after the bus lost power and then caught fire under power lines.
The driver saw flashing warning lights on his dashboard and got himself and the two staff members off as smoke began to pour from the rear of the bus.
The fire caused the overhead power lines to collapse which then created the extra hazard of sparking power lines.
Luckily the fire happened just opposite Montrose Fire Station so firefighters were on scene quickly to control the situation.
The bus was completely destroyed by the fire and investigators are working to identify the cause.
