On Saturday 20 February, Upper Beaconsfield Fire Briagde, alongside the Upper Beaconsfield Pony Club, is holding an information session about horses and bushfires. from

The session takes place at the Upper Beaconsfield Pony Club from 1.30pm to 2pm.

Two guest speakers, Dr Mike Hall, Captain of the brigade and vet, and Jenna Kelley a CFA volunteer and founder of Walking Forward Disaster Relief Team (WFDRT) will be informing horse owners about how to prepare, where to temporarily rehome and how to manage horses during a heatwave or after a fire.

Jenna Kelley also established the National Equine Database, a self-help national database for horse and pet owners resulting in less confusion for community members in times of need. This is an innovative approach that links horse owners and allows them to be self reliant and self-sufficient, reducing the strain on emergency services and councils and promotes forward thinking.

This interactive session will allow the community to ask questions and find out more about the best action to take before, during and after a bushfire and let them know about the aid available.

The pony club asks for a gold coin donation on entry to donate towards The WFDRT efforts and will also provide afternoon tea.

Everyone is welcome.
