Buy a Brick for Wye River brigade
Wye River Fire Brigade has launched a new fundraising campaign to help fund a new extension to its fire station.
Local residents and businesses are being encouraged to buy a brick to help fund a new training area, communications room, kitchen, bathroom and store room at the Wye River Fire Station.
The idea came from Anglesea Fire Brigade who implemented a similar campaign a number of years ago. Brigade Treasurer and Secretary Mel Kohout said, “Building these new areas will help us provide better emergency management assistance and support to our community and help with our CFA fetes and activities."
“The extensions have started and local tradespeople have been sourced to assist with the project, which is fantastic. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown from our fantastic community and we wouldn’t be able to start this project without money raised from the 2015 fires and from our fetes.”
“If you’re interested in helping, bricks can be purchased for $100 or for $250 for businesses. Our target is $50,000 and so far we have raised $29,750 from this initiative, but we need to reach this target to assist with finishing the build.”
