Earlier in October Willowgrove Captain Anthony Schultz travelled to the Sunshine Coast to compete in the 2016 Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games.

The bi-annual event invites emergency services workers from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific to come along and compete.

This year’s games were conducted over eight days with 52 sports on offer.

Swimming is Anthony’s sport of choice, and his efforts did not disappoint. He swam in seven events over the duration of the games and managed to come home with a very impressive six medals.

This wasn’t his first competition and it certainly won’t be his last, having competed and won medals in numerous Emergency Services Games all over the country.

Anthony said the Games are a great opportunity for emergency services members from across the country to get together for a bit of healthy competition.

“It’s always great to get involved and represent CFA at interstate competitions like this,” said Anthony.

“I was pleasantly surprised by my results which go to show that a bit of hard work and training pays off.”

Anthony’s medal tally:

100m backstroke - 2nd
50m freestyle - 2nd
50m butterfly - 2nd
50m backstroke - 1st
50m breaststroke - 1st
200m individual medley - 1st
100m freestyle - 4th
