Captain Koala Honorary Firefighter
The 4 April edition of the Ballarat Courier saluted “Young Boy’s Timely Fire Call” when a five-year-old boy and his brother, who were playing in their cubbyhouse, spotted smoke at the school and alerted their father who rang Triple Zero (000).
Firefighters were so impressed with the responsible actions of the young five-year-old, when he spotted smoke coming from a building at Ballan Primary School, they wanted to thank him.
The Captain of Ballan Fire Brigade Kaine Myers and Captain Koala, assisted by Operations Officer Chris Bigham, recently presented Banjo Luke and his brother Clancy with Captain Koala Honorary Firefighter awards.
When presenting the Captain Koala Honorary Firefighter certificates to the boys, Captain Kaine thanked Banjo for his quick thinking when he told their dad of the smoke.
“We wanted to thank the boys because without their quick action, the fire could have been a lot worse” he said.
