Casterton Community Consultation
CFA and VICSES have been working with local residents and community stakeholders on a multi natural hazards, combined agency, Community Information Strategy.
The community of Casterton is one of two Victorian communities selected as a pilot location for the development of new community information, which attempts to cater for locations where more than one hazard (Fire/Flood/Storm) exists.
Following a recent community meeting in Casterton, which was attended by various community members and representative groups, a proposal was put forward for the development of a localised Community Calendar. This was not the exclusive communication tool proposed but it’s certainly the one that the community wanted to see CFA and VicSES progress on their behalf.
To date we have sourced local information (dates, events, festivals, meetings etc.) that are local (ideally Casterton based) and relevant/of interest to the Casterton community.
We now invite the people of Casterton to review and provide feedback on the Draft Community Community (large file) providing particular attention to the accuracy/currency of local information included (or that is missing).
The selection of photography is still to be finalised and hinges on sourcing photographic material that is suitable for our production purposes (A4 landscape, four colour 300 DPI). Print quality files that we would like to source that we currently don’t have include the Casterton Cup, Jumps Races and Saleyard action shots.
The Community Calendar is a 19 month calendar commencing from June 2013. So it’s proposed to be launched/distributed ahead of the Kelpie Festival in June.
We require feedback or changes to be provided by Monday 20 May 2013 to:
Paul Harris (CFA)
(03) 9262 8571
Sue Pigdon (VicSES)
0419 154 490
Hard copies of the calendar will also be provided for review for those who have been invited to the Emergency Services Stakeholder meeting on Wednesday 15 May.
Thank you to all who provided information, photos and direction to date!
