In celebration of Volunteer Week, we recognise some of CFA’s quiet achievers, also known as our Headquarters brigades.

District 14 is lucky enough to have two – Headquarters and Headquarters East which both provide integral support to the office and the Incident Control Centre at Kangaroo Ground.

District 14 Headquarters Brigade – originally registered as the Region 14 Support Unit were the very first established in CFA. The brigade was initially formed in mid-1995, to be trained and ready for the upcoming fire season.

In partnership with members from the Bacchus Marsh Lions Club, the role the brigade played was to provide additional personnel for the district office including clerical and transporting duties.

The brigade developed their skills from there training members to work in Incident Control Centres, support to fire grounds and flight following which they are still very active in to this day.

The brigade is celebrating their years of service to District 14 and broader CFA with a dinner & service award presentation.

They are always interested in new volunteers who are interested in providing support in a non-operational capacity. To find out more – contact Captain Joseph Dorward at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Given the broad spectrum of work both headquarters brigades perform, they are referred to as the quiet achievers within District 14 as they are very modest about their contributions.

District 14 would like to thank and recognise both their headquarters brigades (including Headquarters East) for their support.
