Celebrating CFA women
Today, 8 March, is International Women’s Day and CFA is joining communities around the state to celebrate the event.
The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is gender parity.
“We should acknowledge and celebrate the great contribution women make to CFA and the community, and also celebrate the fact that CFA now has a woman as CEO,” says Chief Officer Joe Buffone.
“As importantly, we should think how our brigades and teams can help women and girls achieve their ambitions at CFA.”
As part of this year’s celebrations, CFA has made a video that marks the contributions made by women across the organisation.
“The images in this video are really inspiring and moving,” says CEO Lucinda Nolan. “They are a reminder that women at CFA can achieve truly great things for themselves and for their communities when given the opportunity.
“So it’s up to anyone in a leadership position – captains, managers and executives alike – to create these opportunities. This is the type of ‘thank you’ that women at CFA need to hear.”
CFA Online has a resource kit for anyone wanting to learn more about gender and parity issues. It contains relevant context, facts, figures, quotes, graphics and much more.
