Transition to the new digital radio dispatch network has been delayed until mid-2014, while the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) works to train the necessary VicFire dispatch operators.

From CEO Mick Bourke's blog:

"I acknowledge that this may not be welcome news for some of our brigades, who will continue operating on the Category 5 radio dispatch system and managing black spots as they have in previous years.

"This would mean maintaining the Group Communications Officer role in some areas. I thank these brigades for their ongoing support and cooperation."
