CFA activities for Australia Day 2016
CFA members will be out and about this Australia Day taking part in a number of activities including the Australia Day Parade and Government House Open Day.
The parade offers enjoyment and entertainment for all ages and a place where everyone can wave their flags, cheer on participants and delight in the colour and movement. The Australia Day Parade is an opportunity for more than 100 community and cultural groups to come together and participate in this spectacular annual event.
This year will be the second year CFA has participated in the Australia Day parade, which will include around 30 CFA and Coast Guard volunteers led by three bagpipe players.
The Parade starts at 11am following the Australia Day Official Flag Raising Ceremony at the Melbourne Town Hall and will flow down Swanston Street into St Kilda Road.
CFA will also be participating in the Government House Open Day on Tuesday 26 January 2016.
Our Patron, the Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria and His Honour Judge Howard, will host the Open Day and members of the public are invited to view Government House and the grounds between 9.30am and 4pm (self-guided tours of the house will run from 10am to 3.30pm).
Epping Fire Brigade is bringing its pumper, and will be alongside the mobile education bus which will provide community safety information for the parents and activities for the kids.
Other community organisations participating in Government House Open Day include AFL, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Collingwood Children’s Farm, Life Education, INSIDE the BRICK lego play, Croquet Victoria, Tennis Victoria, Bowls Victoria, Golf Victoria, and the Skin & Cancer Foundation.
There will also be performances throughout the day featuring community groups including the Choir of Hard Knocks, The CHO!R, Voices without Borders, Raw & Rugged Dance Crew, The Song Room and the Australian Army Band The Rising Suns.
