CFA and MFB share expertise

CFA and MFB members will get the chance to get stuck in to some hands-on learning about how each agency operates, as part of a secondment program launched last week.

MFB members at levels including leading firefighter, station officer and senior station officer can apply to transition over to CFA at their equivalent rank, with CFA members similarly getting the chance to swap over to MFB. There are 12 positions open at each agency.

CFA's HR Shared Services Manager Nicole Black said the aim of the secondment program was to enhance the interoperability between both agencies.

“CFA and MFB regularly work together at a range of incidents and there is a great sense of team work, so this program is all about extending that sharing of knowledge and expertise of our people,” Nicole said.

“A CFA member can bring new ideas and approaches to a range of operational matters to MFB and vice versa.”

The program is initially for 12 months, with the option for members at either agency to negotiate an extension. Successful applicants will complete three weeks of transition training before starting their new role.

Members must apply by Sunday, 27 November. The program will run two information sessions during the application period.
