A challenging fire that spread across two boats in Blairgowrie marina has been brought under control by CFA volunteers.
CFA was notified at 7.07pm on 20 March to reports of a boat fire, with crews finding two vessels fully alight on arrival in the marina.
CFA Commander Sean Kerr said multiple brigades from the local area attended.
“Sorrento and Rye CFA brigades responded and were supported by FRV and Queenscliff Coastguard,” he said.
“Crews were challenged by the distance between where we could the fire truck to where the boats were actually on fire.
“Hoses had to run about 300 metres from the land down a narrow walkway to the boats in order to extinguish the fire.”
The scene was quickly brought under control, with crews preventing the fire from spreading to other neighbouring vessels.
The cause is yet to be determined, with investigators to attend the scene today.
