CFA firefighter suffers burns

Update @ 2.45pm, Mon 29 April: The firefighter is being treated in hospital for burns and other non-life threatening injuries. He's in good spirits.

A CFA firefighter has suffered burns to the face, hands and throat after falling off a truck while fighting a fire at around 2:30pm today.

The 74-year-old member of the Chatsworth brigade was part of a crew fighting a fast-moving grassfire at Wickcliffe, east of Dunkeld on the Glenelg Highway.

The details surrounding his fall from the truck are not yet known.

He was airlifted from the scene to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne to recieve treatment.
