Over recent months we have been working on what a better future funding model for CFA may be; and recently have been working with representatives from the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) who wish to better understand the CFA funding and expenditure arrangements. How this will occur will become clearer over coming weeks; however we know that a detailed understanding of both CFA's present and future requirements is essential to our ability to deliver our services to the community.

This will be a major project for CFA and in order to ensure that we best position CFA's approach and input to this process, I am putting together, under the oversight of Director Finance and Administration, a Team to allow CFA to participate with selected consultants and Departmental representatives in this review.

Therefore I wish to announce that Gill Metz, Regional Manager Northern and Western will be joining this Team. This will allow us to gain the great value of Gill's financial management and regional service delivery experience to the review.

I am also pleased to announce that Deputy Chief Officer Greg Esnouf will take up the position of Regional Manager Northern and Western in Gill's absence from the Region.

Further to this change I am pleased to announce that Lex de Man has accepted the new role of Executive Manager of Operational Training and Volunteerism; which the Board supported some months ago.

Lex has been a great leader across a variety of roles at CFA and brings with him a first hand knowledge of both Operational Training and Volunteerism. In a strong field of candidates Lex stood out in his ability to work with people at all levels and to bring change where it is needed. I very much look forward to Lex joining the Executive Team.

I would also like to acknowledge the leadership provided by James Stitz in Learning and Development over the past 2 years.

These arrangements will progressively be put into place over the coming weeks however I wanted to take the opportunity to make this announcement to you so that there is awareness across the organisation of the action being taken to ensure CFA's focus is on its future.

Also I want to take the opportunity to let you know that our new Chief Officer, Euan Ferguson, will start on deck at CFA this coming Monday. Euan has told me he is ready to ‘hit the ground running" at CFA and is looking forward to meeting as many CFA members as possible in the coming weeks. Please do make him welcome. Again I wish to record my thanks to Steve Warrington for the work he has done as Chief since the end of June; he has done a fantastic job.
