CFA Crews from Echuca and Murrabit brigades recently attended the RFS Mid Murray Zone Exercise in Conargo.
These two border brigades had the opportunity to train with and get to know their northern colleagues. They left with a better understanding about how the RFS does things (not much different to us as it turned out).
Training exercises included car fire, foam usage, power pole fires, solar panels, new tanker development, driving skills and communications. Points were allocated for the driving and directing skills and RFS Moulamein brigade took the honours, winning a new chain saw.
Also on display was Conargo's new Cat 6 Tanker. It's a 9,000-litre tanker with a monitor on the front, which only requires a two-man crew. It's designed for areas with low populations and large areas to cover.
The day then finished with a BBQ and plenty of fellowship between the various brigades of both fire services.
