Connewarre Fire brigade held a most successful CFA Sunday event in conjunction with the opening of the display homes village at the new Warralily Estate, Armstrong Creek.

It was an ideal opportunity to promote the CFA and meet our new community members. Both tankers were on display with Crew Protection Systems, BA and other equipment, together with a Quick Fill Pump and historic Low Down Pump used by the competition teams being demonstrated.

Displays of draughting from a nearby lake with the Quick Fill and another static water source by Tankers, were combined with numerous children pumping water using the Low Down Pump and excitedly spraying water from tanker delivery hoses. Children's activities, give-aways and photographs of children with their red plastic helmets and sitting in tankers were most popular. Community education information was discussed with visitors and a lucky draw for three fire blankets was held.

Warralily Estate supported the event with a jumping castle, face painting, children's train and Santa visiting and the brigade ran a free sausage sizzle. By coming to the community, over 500 people attended compared to a minimal number last year when held at the Fire Station. A number of residents expressed an interest in possibly becoming involved with the brigade and many excited children may be future junior members.
