CFA to conduct burn off near Ballarat
CFA is planning to carry out a three-hectare burn off near Ballarat tomorrow from approximately 10am.
CFA’s Bill Cook, from the Sebastopol Fire Brigade District 15, said residents can expect to see smoke in the Magpie area between approximately 10am and 12pm, tomorrow Sunday 23 November.
“About 25 members will be involved in the burn off at Magpie- the main purpose of this burn of is fuel reduction to protect surrounding properties,” Mr Cook said.
“This is also part of the Eureka Group’s pre-summer exercise. We’ll be going through our preparations, such as entrapment procedures and burn overs.”
The burn off will be conducted on underdeveloped paddocks, depending on local weather conditions.
Residents should stay informed and aware of local conditions.
