2018 will be the fourth year the CFA community has marched in uniform at the Midsumma Festival to demonstrate the CFA’s commitment to being an open and diverse organisation.

CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington says he will again attend the march to reaffirm the CFA’s ongoing commitment to support the LGBTI community.

“CFA’s mission is to protect lives and property throughout the entire cross-section of Victorian people. Doing so effectively involves respect and inclusion of the diverse communities we serve and our own people - volunteers, career firefighters and staff.”

“The Midsumma Pride March provides an opportunity to proudly demonstrate the CFA’s commitment and support for the LGBTI community and to reaffirm our position as an inclusive and welcoming organisation.”

“This tangible and very public show of support for the LGBTI community underlines our commitment to embracing diversity more broadly and to promoting inclusion - within our organisation and beyond.”

CFA Pride Ambassador Russell Wright said the past three marches the CFA has attended have been very successful and he hopes to see record numbers of leaders, members, staff and march in 2018.

“I am enormously honored to be CFA’s Pride Ambassador and its moments like this Sunday’s march that the CFA can demonstrate it is connected to the LGBTI community.”

The Midsumma March is on Sunday 28 January from 2:00pm.
