CFA is attending an incident on the Warburton Highway in Lilydale. A very large tree believed to be at least 100 metres long has fallen across the road blocking traffic in both directions.
A road accident has also occurred in the nearby vicinity. CFA, SES, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and VicRoads have been made aware. Victoria Police are now controlling the incident.
The Warburton Highway is closed between Maroondah Highway and Leonard Road.
CFA is advising caution on the roads with trees and powerlines having been torn down.
CFA is also asking all Victorians to extinguish any planned burn-offs immediately. Across the state CFA resources have been diverted to planned burns that have become out of control.
