Blood Challenge win
Congratulations to CFA members who rolled up their sleeves and donated blood during the 2013 Emergency Service Blood Challenge.
The combined effort of CFA volunteers and staff helped CFA win the title of highest number of donations of any Emergency Service in Victoria. During June and July, CFA members donated a whopping 167 blood, plasma and platelet donations, a considerable increase from last year’s total of 98 donations.
Chief Officer Euan Ferguson and blood donor enthusiast and CFA Research Officer Susan Kidnie accepted the award this past Wednesday at the Red Cross’s Melbourne Processing Centre, the largest blood processing centre in the southern hemisphere.
Regional Manager Mick Stephenson was also present to accept the award for highest number of donors per membership size on behalf of Ambulance Victoria.
Special congratulations to CFA donors at the Geelong Donor Centre who contributed the greatest number of donations of any donor centre in the state.
Even though the Challenge is over, the need for blood donations continues. Call 13 14 95 or visit www.donateblood.com.au to make a life saving appointment today.
