Word on the street is that the Junior Urban State Championships in Swan Hill and Senior Urban State Championships in Bendigo went off with a bang.

It was great to see the teams rise to the occasion and give it their all.

But it’s not over yet; now it is up to the rural teams to show off their firefighting skills. Geelong is welcoming both junior and senior teams for the Rural State Championships on 5 and 6 April.

The CFA VFVB Rural Junior and Senior Championships are held on the same weekend and are a free event for all. More than 40 teams compete in different firefighting skills events from hosing a target, climbing sky high ladders to rolling hoses.

Slightly more laid back and being held on grass, the event is always the last in the Championship calendar.

‘CFA on display’ will be there once again; showcasing new projects and providing recruitment information, activities and fire safety messages.

These displays include:

  • Health watch offering free health checks
  • Fit Kids
  • Member classification
  • Brigade Sustainability
  • Volunteerism
  • Home Bushfire Advice Service
  • Member Engagement
  • Merchandise
  • Training
  • Computer simulation

There will be entertainment for the whole family with the high energy interactive Captain Koala and Friends show.

The impressive Mobile Education Units and various other CFA trucks will also be on display over the weekend.

Tell your friends and come along to cheer on your local firefighters!
