CFA Chief Officer Joe Buffone has visited some of the members who were first on scene to the Scotsburn fire.

The blaze last December burnt 4750 hectares and destroyed 14 homes. Many more were saved though due to the tireless work of CFA and DELWP crews, working with the support of aircraft.

Joe travelled to the Napoleons-Enfield brigade, meeting with more than 45 volunteer leaders from Buninyong and surrounding groups.

The Chief said “They all did an amazing job responding to the Scotsburn Fire and saved many properties.”

“It was great to hear them share their experiences from the incident and what they learnt from it.”

“They also provided some invaluable insights and suggestions relating to operational training.”

He also thanked District 15 staff for organising the event.

“While recovery is well on the way there are still some trying days ahead for many in the community”, Joe said.

“Despite some recent rain the fire threat for Victoria is far from over. We need everyone to remain vigilant, keep an eye on the Fire Danger Ratings and have a bushfire plan."
