Chief swears oath against violence
As part of White Ribbon Day CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson and CFA staff have conducted a march around the lake near CFA HQ in support of the violence against women campaign ‘Walk a mile in her shoes’.
Mr Ferguson led CFA members in ‘swearing the oath’ to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.
To highlight the campaign's message, male CFA staff, including top executives, donned women’s shoes for the lakeside walk.
Thirty per cent of women worldwide are affected by intimate partner violence, the most common type of violence against women. At least one woman is killed every week by a current or former partner in our country.
The White Ribbon campaign is the largest global male-led movement to stop men’s violence against women. It engages and enables men and boys to lead this social change.
