CFA has evacuated 40 children from a community centre in Mernda, after reports there was a strong smell described as kerosene coming from the premises.
CFA has evacuated 40 children from the Mernda Village Kindergarten in Mernda, after reports there was a strong smell described as kerosene coming from the premises.
Crews were called to the Mernda Village Community Activity centre this morning around 10.50am.
All children have been evacuated safely to the neighbouring Mernda Primary School, and parents have been notified.
A further 6-8 people from the community centre have also been evacuated.
CFA says there is no threat to the community.
Investigations are continuing.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also on scene.
