Children evacuated in South Morang
More than 100 children were evacuated from an early learning centre following a gas leak in South Morang this morning, 7 December.
CFA was called to the incident just before 10am and found a 60mm gas main had been ruptured by an excavator adjacent to a childcare centre.
Police and firefighters safely evacuated 125 children to a nearby school hall.
Firefighters have been keeping the area safe while the gas company is working to isolate the leak.
CFA trucks from South Morang, Mernda and Epping are at the scene.
