The efforts of CFA brigades from North West, West and South West regions have been recognised with a donation of over $9,000 from a CitiPower and Powercor fundraiser.

Held over Christmas 2015, CitiPower and Powercor employees generated a whopping $3,232 of the donation, which was later matched by another $3,000 from the companies. An additional $3,000 was given to Horsham Fire Brigade to help with equipment.

Fifteen brigades in the service areas of CitiPower and Powercor will receive a share of over $6,000 to be used towards the purchase of new equipment such as cooling sleeves, shade sails, a diesel fuel tank, specialist firefighting nozzles and lots more.

District 17’s Horsham Fire Brigade will use some of the money to buy much-needed cooling sleeves that help reduce core body temperature.

Horsham brigade Captain John St Clair said the brigade will also buy new racks to upgrade the storage of turnout gear that will make it easier to access and improve response times.

“We’d like to thank Powercor for their operational support at the fire and both Powercor and CitiPower for this funding.”

Acting Assistant Chief Officer of CFA West Region, Dale Russell, said he was grateful to CitiPower and Powercor employees and the organisation for this generous donation.

“Money like this helps our brigades to buy equipment and items that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to buy, and it’s great that our brigades receive support from organisations like this.”

Paul Gerdtz, Senior Programs Planner for CitiPower and Powercor Networks thanked CFA.

“Thanks again for the ongoing support CFA gives to Powercor in the protection of our electricity assets, it’s greatly appreciated!
