Clonbinane Fire Brigade in conjunction with Sunday Creek Dry Creek Landcare Group took on eight kilometres of Spur Road, Clonbinane, in the Clean Up Australia Day event.

A dozen CFA and Landcare volunteers collected three trailer loads of rubbish and recyclables from the roadside, which were then taken to the Wallan Transfer Station.

The morning started with a safety briefing that covered the numerous hazards associated with roadside clean ups. Sunday Creek Dry Creek Landcare President Trevor Viénet said, "The roadside safety was greatly enhanced by the presence of both the Clonbinane tankers, watching our backs as we progressed along the Spur Road”.

Clonbinane field command vehicle also assisted by towing a large tandem trailer for rubbish removal.

The morning ended with a sausage sizzle as the team discussed the most unusual items collected. It was a toss-up between a galvanised water tank, a set of four wheels with tyres and a pile of 10 spray cans of deodorant.

The volunteers clearly demonstrated the motto of the Sunday Creek Dry Creek Landcare Group 'Passionate about Our Patch'.
